A few new things here. More snow, but not as much as the past weeks. Only about 6-7 inches for the week.

I picked up a new (new to me anyways) pellet and wood hauler yesterday. 2005 Silverado 4x4. The S-10 I've had for a month shy of 23 years (2WD 2.5L Iron Duck 4 cylinder) is going to be retired. I wanted something with 4 wheel drive that was a bit bigger and could haul more stuff.

Yes, it did happen but I haven't been able to get a picture in daylight yet... :)

Here it is. Not the best pic as daylight is getting scarce. Wife just got home after running errands in it. She's driven it more than I have.

Enjoy your new truck. It should serve you well for years. Just keep it from rusting and you can usually keep these going for as long as you want them.

Thanks. Surprisingly this one has no rust on the body and very little surface rust on the frame, which is surprising since it's been in Michigan it's whole life. The original owner seems to have taken good care of it. I've been looking for a different truck for a while and this one fit the bill.

I plan on keeping it until the wheels go square. Then I'll find round wheels and run it some more. :)

Cleaned the furnace today. It had been 3 weeks and 32 bags since the last cleaning. I could have squeaked out another week, but since the polar vortex is paying a visit for the 18th time this year towards the middle of next week, I figured now was a good time.

Swept the vent and turned day into night with the leaf blower. Glad it was still breezy.

Stopped at the store to get some 9 volt batteries. I'd been spying their pellets. Picked up 5 bags of Ozarks. Never burned them before. If they hold their own, I may pick up a ton so I don't run the stash down any farther.

lol....can the bag be any more generic looking? Hopefully they burn well for you, what's the price of those? Let us know how they burn.

4.29 a bag but the ton price is 199.

I'd walked by these many times as the bag looks an awful lot like the Michigan wood pellet bags.

They are PFI certified. If it carries the PFI label then they must be good, right? :)

Nice truck amc343. Is that extended cab a 3-door or 4-door?

Old bag looked like this one(see pic) I tried a while back. Burned OK for me. Heat was decent, A bit ashy though.

Its a 4 door. Makes getting the kid and dog in and out of the truck a bit easier.

Its going to be hard for me to judge ash as I still had about 100 pounds of pro pellets in the hopper when I lit the stove after the cleaning. Didn't feel like digging those out and topping off with the Ozarks. Plus, with as cold as its going to get later next week I don't want to shut down to measure ash anyways.

I'll let the furnace burn down whats in the hopper now. I figure a bag of Ozarks will be hitting the auger on Monday. If I come home and the wife is smiling, I know they're good enough. If I get a call/email while at work about the house being too cold, or come home and see her holding the frying pan, then I know they're not worth buying again.

With the Fahrenheit, I never worry about overall ash content. Only the heat :)

The way this furnace cleans itself (I love it by the way) it could be a standard grade and it would eat it like candy.

Have I mentioned lately, that I love my furnace? :)
