I ran on propane for 20 years, boiler. It was really convenient. Burned the woodstove too though. We also had $750 auto refill the day we closed on selling our own home, and yep, gave it to the sellers too.

This home had two 1000 gal propane tanks tandem when we bought it. :bug: The set up was dangerous, we got rid of the 1952 furnace, cook range , tanks and lines. The tanks were leased.

    Hope you are toasty!

drolet error code f160? only reference I can find in the manual is that its a part number
    8.1 Electric Components List

    Electronic components (low power rated)
    o
    F160 (security heat sensor

I am waiting for it to cool down to check the ash bin. It does have pellets in the hopper. AND I was running it on the highest setting for and hour or so. Interesting...

I only see single character error codes where are you reading the F160? F160 is a thermodisc.

Is it possible I overheated it? Checked the ash pan, only 1/3 full. Turned it on again, this time on a lower setting its running again. :loco:

That should throw an error code H. After you do the reset the stove can be restarted and yes it is possible to overheat a stove, usually however doing so indicates a problem with your burn. Frequently this is caused by improper airflow [read dirt/ash in the works where it shouldn't be], sometimes caused by a bad damper setting, then we have the ever popular dust bunnies/pet hair in the convection blower [also an air flow problem but not the "normal" one], followed by a failing convection blower [you did maintain it correctly right?] and then a failing thermodisc and possibly a screwed up control board [way down on the list].

All overheat indications call for full maintenance to be performed and all adjustments to be checked, after three resets for this condition your stove will stop allowing you to reset the error condition and restart the unit. There is an unlock sequence.

Thanks STB :) I think he cleaned it just a few days ago, but I actually don't remember! ....It could have been the weekend before and I've burned it hard during the storm. The burn pot looks a lil cruddy. I'll shut it down again before hubby gets home so its cooled down clean.

I hear ya, If you continue the lease and go pellet later on, They might hassle ya when you don't use that much fuel. Happened to a friend. Now he uses the pellet stove only at nigh and the propain during the day. Uses just enough to stay on the minimum usage. Gets a better price and a cheaper lease on the tank too.

    You'll figure out something. ;)

given your environs, and the design of the stove, you should be able to run that thing in HIGH indefinitely.....possibly a bad snap disk? Things happen. have you called the dealer?

Hi LW, thanks! I don't have a dealer :(. I am hoping it could be an oversight in maintenance (fingers crossed). We ran alot more fuel through it during the recent cold snap. Also there's a fine coating of white ashes on the glass that I have not seen before? I hope we don't run into problems with the wind, its the most sustained we've had since we installed it. I purchased it from Northern Tool online, it came from out east somewhere.

I've turned it on again and its working. Somehow when you mentioned snap disk I finally figured out the crazy contraption we removed when we bought the place. It was a snap disk rewired to an ancient fan suspended from the ceiling above the old stove. I never could figure that one out:rofl:

Don't think my friend at the propane co. would jack the rates......he was real good to me with the tank for the generator over at the other house. But we'll see.

BTW, just saw this on CL....too bad I'm not in the market right now:

I built a 4x4x4 box for pellets for my autofeeding BioWin and filled it up a couple of days ago. Today, I called the trash company, and yes, they do accept pellet bags for recycling, which was a pleasant surprise.

It's not even winter yet and I'm sick of snow. We've gotten a bit over a foot since yesterday. It hasn't gotten above 20 since Sunday afternoon, but the snow is pretty wet and heavy, especially the last few inches on the driveway.

I spent an hour clearing the driveway this morning, 50 minutes driving to work, an hour driving home, and another hour cleaning the driveway again when I got home. Now I'm throwing some back :drunk::drunk:and hoping the snow will let up. Doesn't look likes it's going to. Well, until Friday, but they're talking freezing rain then. Then just plain rain this weekend.

Good news, the house is nice and warm. :)

I just saw you moved Imacman, congrats on your new place. I always loved the open ceiling with your pellet stove setup at your old place.

I think I forgot to set the alarm. When I went to bed it was November and when I woke up it was 15 degrees out so it must be January. You would think I would be refreshed after sleeping for six weeks....:shiver:
