At 3.719/gal on propane, its a no brainer. With oil still around 2.499/gal its a wash, especially if you factor in the stove maintenance, hauling pellets, filling the stove etc.

Problem is, pellets tend to go up when oil does so as long as oil doesnt spike hard, it remains a mix here

I don't have oil. I don't have gas. I have pellets or electricity and even though our electrical rates are quite a bit less than what you folks out east are paying, choosing between pellet heat and electricity is a no brainer. It's why I deal with the maintenance and the upkeep and the pellet acquisition.

I don't think TSC has upped their prices since they moved in 3 years ago. Sometimes they'll go on sale, or I'll have coupons, but never paid more than $5.49/bag. They haven't had any shortages either - although I don't think we've gone thru any true shortages anyway in that time. I feel lucky that they put a store so close so I don't have to worry about all that.

5.49 per bag-that's approaching premium quality territory. Also, oil has stayed pretty steady for the past 3 years as well.

Hopefully they hold that price if oil suddenly spikes to 4-5 bucks. It generally doesnt happen overnight but the pellet prices follow over time to compensate freight increases.

That's what I'd pay if I bought them individually.
