I’m lining up my first pecan hoard. There are 2 50 year old trees cut down. Not common around here but I love the wood for smoking meat. I’ve read BTUs are just ok. I’m planning on traveling 70 miles round trip. Is it worth it? What say u?

Agreed, I’m thinking the trip is worth it for something new and the wood is not too bad.

2 trees? Yes, definitely go get it, especially since you have a trailer now. Great cooking wood, might make a few $$ on some of it. Does ok for firewood, does pop a good bit, makes fluffy ash. Can be a pain to split sometimes. Great find. Hoard on.

Maybe the logs would be millable? I bet some citidiots would pay huge money for live edge pecan slabs!

How big of a trailer so you have now? If you can get at least a cord, it's worth it.

If it were me, that’s a bbq score, I’d be all over that. I just get chips or chunks on occasion. Go get it.

Jeff do you see/notice beetle damage in stacked pecan? I have some stacked and it looks like powder post beetle dust on it.

The pecan is stacked with the hickory so it's a dusty mess in that pile:headbang:
