Taking every precaution and all advice I can. I want Andrew and fiancé to not have to worry about the flue. I can’t wait to post pics of this stove rolling secondaries!!

I ordered the adapter piece and have him getting a new vertical piece to get to his existing 90 elbow, then measuring for a new piece of double wall to the wall. The temp drop has them burning HHO and they want to slow that down asap.

I’m sure I’ve mentioned Andrew is a procrastinator, didn’t get that from me. Anywho, long story short, he got a new job and works too many hours (IMO) and has let his pile sit. With my new found free time and perfect weather, I decided to get started.

Cruising along and BAM! Return line hose breaks spewing fluid. :headbang: Luckily broke right at the fitting so I just trimmed the break and reconnected.

Decent little dent in the pile. Hope to go back tomorrow and repeat everything but the break.

With that larger pump you are probably putting more pressure on the return line than before...returning all the oil that is behind the piston makes for a pretty good flow rate back to the tank! Return flow on the return stroke is a lot higher than on the extend stroke...on some engine/pump combos you can even hear the engine labor from it a little

Mine will labor on return until it warms up and it used to blow return lines regularly until I got a beefier line.

Definitely can hear that. Going to get a replacement hose and the better clamps so it doesn’t happen again. It popped when the stroke bottomed out.

You do nice work! He's going to really appreciate that in the winter. Sometimes life happens and firewooding gets pushed down the list. I never process firewood this time of year. It's already in the 90's and only getting hotter. But here I am getting a couple hours in after work each day. Good on you!

The Wood Wolverine dont be too hard on Andrew.
He is still young and learning his limitations. Also doesn’t have your life experience yet. He’s a worker cause you said he works too much.. my gut says you worked some OT in your life.

My point is Andrew has the skills ; he is figuring life out and  for you on helping him out

Agree on all points. :handshake: I want him to like and be successful burning wood but I'm not sure he has the time to do it. Last thing I want to see is issues with too much creosote from using wood that isn't properly dried. Taking my moisture meter today to try and get it to sink in. Couple months isn't enough for oak, no matter how small we split it.

Laying some 'dad guilt' on him, low key.

Nice of you to help him out. I have a line on my splitter that is seeping. The return off the pump into the tank. Forest King used regular water hose far as I can tell. They did use real wire hose for the return/bypass line off the valve. Gonna let it seep for a bit as I'll have to drain the reservoir to get a new hose on there. Going to switch to ATF when I do that. Probably in the fall. Will replace the hose with wire hydraulic line which hopefully will mean I'll never have to think about it again.

It’s always great when a son wants to help his father and is willing to work as hard as his father does

Looks like you are almost done. That should season nicely over the summer.
