Thats very kind of you Winston and I trust this finds you well. Whatever you decide to do, please share it with us here for ideas and of course the enabling...... you’ll get the green light go! Its all about exposure, height off the ground and capturing your prevailing wind IMO...I’m lucky that my set up does defy a lot of conventionally accepted drying times for wood but climate of course plays a role too-Lots of tried and true experiences here as you know and we love to live the experience through pics with all our brethren-Happy hoarding my friend!
I found myself having to put in more outdoors storage area for drying firewood. Just finished this today. 7 plastic pallets on bricks with t-posts at each end. I should get that filled up by the end of summer.
What size are those and how heavy are they. Never used plastic pallets before. Ive made racks out of reclaimed plastic composite deck boards.
That looks nice Erik B, how much do expect that rig to hold when loaded? Looks like it going to get plenty of air and sun.
buZZsaw BRAD One of them is 48" square and the rest are 40X48. Some are heavier then others but easy to handle. I am planning on putting 2 rows of splits on them. There will be a little room in the middle for good air flow.
Ashwatcher I got some plastic pallets a year or so ago and they held wood piled 3 and a half feet high on them. Here is a pic of the first plastic pallets partially loaded. I have 6 of those pallets in a row.
Buddy of mine taking the rail rack to the next level-A double with stops welded on, can stack 6’ high 36’ long-He has an OWB and its been a struggle getting him to understand that seasoned is still better...He heats his home, water and floors with it
I have a similar situation, dang stove eats so much wood it hard to get enough ahead to give it time to season. I’ve been at it this spring though & I’ve got myself 55+ cords cut split & stacked!
That is 6 cord by my calc.. in the double rail rack. No reason he couldn’t stack it taller with the ends welded on like that though. wait, I was thinking 8’ tall. 6’ would be 4.5 cord.
