Found this HEAVY DUTY pallet in our scrap pallet pile at work tonight. It was nearly all oak, screwed together with 3/8 x 5 lags and a few nails. This will come in handy...
I would not be ashamed to scrounge it or burn it! I always come up with old end cuts of one sort or another from my barn as I slowly clean things up in there. Very dry stuff most of it, so only a little in the stove at a time. It all burns! Great stuff!!!
T.Jeff Veal, unless you know how long it’s been sitting around/age, most pallets are not as burn ready as one would think. I get pallets like that from my job; some years ago I got some nice oak, and after bucking to length, I decided to split and check with the MM.... mid 30’s MC all day.... Just trying to lend a bit of extra info here.
Excellent! No splitting involved. Hope it's dry enough for you to use this season! I'm on the lookout for a similar score in large quantities so I have something to tuck in with my largely 24% mc wood this season. This will be our first with an indoor burner, having run an owb for the last five years since moving in.
It seemed pretty dry. I'll check it with my MM. I would only use a couple pieces at a time as I start my fire. I'll cut it up soon.
