"When I stacked wood" - I know that was an obscure reference - LOL. And no, I didn't mean wood pellets.

BUT - doh, I was respnonding to Dexter's post, so yeah, I'm the idiot

I was at Menards last night and all they had were Michigan's and one tattered bag of AWF hardwood.

I stopped at Home Depot afterwards (was on a quest for a few gallons of RV antifreeze for the drain traps up north and Menards was sold out) and they had a brand that I had never heard of. I left my phone at home, so no pic and I promptly forgot what the name was, but it did start with a T. $269/ton is too rich for my blood for an unknown pellet.

My stacks are the exact opposite of Dexters. Imagine a flatbed truck hauling pellets that got broadsided by a freight train. My stacks might look a little better than that.

And the item number from the first load maybe you can try that number? Not sure but I thought all menards had the same pricing? Maybe not...:(

I saw last week that they were $3.99/bag, but they're back to $4.49 a bag as of last night, at least at their Comstock Park store. I brought home another ton this past Thursday. Family Farm and Home had a 10% off anything sale last Tursday through Thursday. $214 and change out the door with tax. Not a bad price all things considered.

I have right around 3.5 ton in the stash now. If winter weather temperature predictions hold true, that should get me through the season. I always end up bringing home 10 or so bags whenever I come across something decent. If predictions change, I could grab another ton as the store down the road from me has at least 100 tons in stock, maybe more.

That mignt be it. What I found odd was that the skid was wrapped in black plastic with no name on the outside of it. I had to tear away a bit of the plastic to read what was on the bag.

American Wood Pellets from Corunna, MI? I bought a few bags of those as I'm seeing them pop up quite a bit around here.

No I tried those last year. Unless they changed the bags to red and white then it may have been them.

The AWF hardwoods are decent. I bought a few bags of the AWF softwoods last year. They were great, but too hard for me to choke down at at nearly $7 a bag.

That is how they are wrapped here - so that is probably what they are. They're an okay pellet but range in size from 1/2" to 2-1/2". Plenty of ash but burn with decent heat. If your HD has Stove Chows (ours do), I think those are a bit better - at least in my stoves they are.

American wood fibers are a good pellet. Definitely on the "grab" list of they are cheap.
