Bit of a scene this morning. Rolled in 7:30, proceeded to load my second pallet and 3 guys come walking towards me, one well dressed. Leader of the pack was a bit warm, not quite hot yet… asks if I have permission, explained i was told to take all unwanted via FB messages. He asks did I call yadda yadda then tells me since I didn’t call it’s stealing. :hair: WHAT!!
So I explained the entire story, found the add for free pallets, I did call the office first time I came, was told I could take as many as I wanted and have the message log to show. He then tells me I’m supposed to call each time I plan to come. Ok, I wasn’t told that… Apparently someone came in and “made a mess” and he doesn’t want his employees to have to clean up someone picking through and leaving them lay around. I assured that wasn’t me to check his cameras if he could. So then.. tells me I can take as many as I want :picard::headbang::loco: , just call first. :handshake: Ok..

Sheesh.. guess he just needed to flex his power a little. Whatever. :zip:

So.. I got the rest of those Wally World ones. 10 in the truck, 16 in trailer.

Last thing boss man said was he needed them ALL gone for an audit coming up. If anyone close needs pallets, holler! I’ll give you address and number to call.

Still well worth it, despite the hassle/misunderstanding. Good thing you kept the trail of electronic evidence to cover your behind

o_O Wish I was closer! I’m gonna need some more pallets soon, and am thinking it’s gonna be plastic from now on. Are you growing your stash or replacing old ones?

Couple years ago I got a load from this same place and I was late to the party. What was left were this style:

They can crack easy if you drop heavy enough wood on them wrong. I plan to eventually replace them with these new premium ones. No plan to extend my stacks (as of right now), so whatever I got beyond that will go to my parents and my son, which should be quite a few! Dad needs a chunks bin or two so we'll probably build those right away.

Thanks Jason, that’s the place I got em from awhile back.
I’m good for now, the way I’m using them I can move a half a cord of solar kilned wood at a time, really cuts down on “times handling”…

I think those are the style of the three i have and i agree, not that crazy about them. I have a stack of oak heartwood residing on them now.

Man, what a deal!! Up this way they want 10$ for crappy ones, 20$ for the ones similar to what you are getting. Maybe the market will get saturated up here and prices will drop

IF you were able to get $20 a pop, so far I got 89 pallets. Not sure how fast they are moving now though, and no plan to go back. I lifted one of the yellow blocked ones, very heavy!

    10 truck, 16 trailer 1st load
    10/24 2nd
    10/19 3rd.

I have a few of these. They do break very easily, especially below freezing temps. Pretty jelli of your score here TBH. The ones I have were gleaned from shipments that came into my work. When covid hit, the plastic pallets just stopped showing up at all for some reason. Receiving dept has standing orders to alert me any time they encounter them.

Got 18 today. Thanks The Wood Wolverine. I got some of the better ones. Had to stand on the side of the truck bed to get the first couple down. Was hoping to see someone on a forklift and I was ready to give them a 10 spot to get some down. 20240111_100229.jpg 20240111_100215.jpg
