Nice stuff. I take the thicker stuff, cut it short to go N/S and stack my kindling strips when I start a fire, a good picture of what I'm talking about is in the snap, crackle pop thread.

Not really for firewood hoarding, but I did salvage quite a bit of building material from work this summer! All the big lumber was 8x16 foot pallets.

I will cut the 4'ers and put them in the wood hoop below the deck to use in the fire pit and/or save for camping trips next Summer. Our last camping trip last month i took several bundles of hardwood board the same size as my regular wood bundles (9x9x16). It was easier, cleaner and lighter than a tote full of wood. When we camp the fire goes from 5-6 until at least midnight (or until i slump over when i fall asleep) I also scrounge some on site. A bundle is good for two hours of average burn. Couple hours of burn in the morning too. Use coals to cook with as well.

Posted this one up in the “bullchiting” thread. Moved a bunch of this pallet wood that I had and found I had a lot of wood that wasn’t really all that special in between the moving of it so it still saving it was fine too. The wood is probably around 95% Oak, last part maple. Still have more to consolidate, luckily there’s some more cool and clear weather coming. Been a bit rainy and busy last weeks so I’m hoping to get some of these stacks rearranged. Also that has doubled in size already, so the rack is just needing to be a bit more and it’ll be full.

Yup! I'll probably tarp it over the winter, but part of it will be going to building a combo shed/chicken coop (fortress).
