Could it be that we live in Paradise ?
No tornados, no floods, no people from down THERE ( year round at least ).

Went to Lowe's to get some PT 4x4 to replace some fence posts snapped in the last storm that rolled thru.
nope didn't have any, just a couple that looked like banana wood.
Went to a local fence company on Sunday and picked thru their rip out piles headed for the dump
Got two loads and just had to remove some nails and screws.
First load of 22 looked great just some dirt on bottom.
Second load of 32 had a few (5) with some termite damage( useful for under wood skids)
So total of 54 treated 4x4s free with just a little work. New ones are around $18.00 each
15 of the ones I picked up still had barcode stickers on em

I don't remember what the price used to be. I did notice they did not have any of the 8' ones in stock. I saved a bunch of the pt 2x4's that came from a fence I removed.

That's awesome! I had to buy 4) 8'er's and they were $20 each at the local lumber yard.

I had a couple of projects lined up, potentially finishing my basement and building a nice sized pole barn/woodshed for firewood, lawn tractor, etc.. but I just looked at the prices for lumber and PS lumber and it's absolutely and utterly ridiculous, I'll wait......! Lowes selling 4x4x8PT for $19 :hair::hair::hair::jaw::bug::hair:

Yeah, lumber prices here are pretty much doubled. Not just PT, everything. I meant to check the price of sheetrock but forgot.
I've been toying with the idea of tearing a one car attached garage down and building a two car detached but not right now. Maybe next year.

I hear ya! I was really looking forward to these projects, both are something I've been wanting to do especially the pole barn, but just can't justify it right now!

Every time I drive through the yard at Menard's the PT lumber is mostly non-existent for "normal" sizes. You can find a 6'x2"x12" or other weird sizes, but if you are looking to build a deck or set some posts for something you will be out of luck.

Non-treated construction lumber and sheet goods are readily available, but they are stupid expensive right now...right about double what they normally are.

Yup with lumber prices out of sight, its a good time to focus on other things. Such as getting on the 3 year plan, getting winter machines ready, bringing firewood in the house, etc.

Was at my local small town lumber yard today, he said the price of lumber is going down big time right now. He is gonna wait a bit before he orders any

That's great news! But it makes sense. Summer is over.
