I know you're matching the small roof jutout for looks.... But have you given any thought to coming off the new part further with a covered area? It may be too late now or you may not want to, but I could see that being very valuable for extra covered space that would work well for the outdoor kitchen.
With the expense of lumber now, we are minimizing lumber, and going big on concrete and stonework. I think we will be happy with the layout. We could always ad some good awning in an area later I suppose. weather may hamper progress early part of the week. These guys like employment, I don’t doubt they will hit it as soon as possible. the electrician who will be doing the work has been to my place to run a trap line one winter. I am sure he will do a great job.
Yeah, I understand about the lumber... crazy what it's doing. And it would be fairly easy to do later like you said. I'd love to have an outdoor kitchen with stone. Looking forward to seeing pics of the progress.
More progress today. Some electrical ran, and insulation put in place. I will wait for a couple more days of work and update with pictures. I give them credit, they are working men. Unless it is snowing or icy rain, they are here. Now that work will be mostly under a roof, I doubt that will stop them.
Never stopped due to weather. There is always something that can be done. Looking forward to the pics.
Appears the excavation was done, I have a pile of dirt outside the yard, but a blanket of snow has covered it. Probably prettier that way.
It is unbelievable the amount of solar gain you collect in heat from that plastic on the window holes. But of course, night time is a different story!
Windows installed and green board buttoned up. Today they are putting in tongue and groove on the underside where the kitchen and patio will be
I like the windows. It will seem like you are sitting outside in there. Solar gain for heating as well.
Very nice place. Nice view of the hills. I guess in summer time the trees would block the view of them.
I am considering cutting down several of them for that reason. Through the year, the sun moves across the horizon, so the subset is a different view each season. Kinda reminds people of the Smokie mountains when they are looking out that way. I get aggravated that the guy who built the house didn’t set it back another 20 yard, so the whole valley would be in view. Instead he put the pole building there.
Looks very nice! But........ Myself, I would have used a wide window trim board between the windows instead of leaving that 3/4" of exposed and painted drywall (?) between the windows. Looks nice now, but at some point, it'll need to get repainted.
Ready for the pour, come Monday. The hole in the gravel is the septic tank access. I told my wife this morning, it won’t be long before I am reading my Sunday paper out there. Upper area is done minus finding a low profile ceiling fan.
