We were gonna have a fire yesterday afternoon to ward off the Sunday scaries but decided it was too windy. Boo
Having a back porch fire tonight, as it finally rained for the first time in a couple of months. Burning the chunks and uglies that can't be easily sold. They may not look pretty, but the flames are all the same! I'm a teacher and bus driver for the local high school as far as my day job goes. We had our fall homecoming game a couple of weeks ago. Asked the superintendent if I could "get rid" of some branches and whatnot from this summers tree jobs. He was inclined to say yes, and the kids were pretty happy with the results: The fire department is parked just outside the pictures, no worries. They seemed pretty pleased as well.
yooperdave You got it! I'll try and take a daytime picture tomorrow, but the link he found is accurate. And they've got pictures galore on the website. I received the pit from my father in law. Helped put it together at his house originally, and when he realized I used it more often than he did, I was told I could keep it if I went through the effort of getting it out of his backyard. He works for Textron Aviation and is out of the country pretty frequently. So for the low, low price of having to disassemble and reassemble 400 lbs of steel, it's now mine. With everything off the front it's in "fire pit" mode. With other arrangements I run it as a grill or smoker.
