Thanks. I was wondering if anyone would notice that the vanes are indexed to the graphics on the shafts. What you can't see is that all the wraps are also indexed to the shafts and vanes, too.
P.S. I am a HUGE fan of Flex Fletch vanes. I've fletched and shot just about every brand of vane, but for the last 5+ years, FF are all I will use. They are that much better than all the rest. Here's some other hunting and target arrows with FF vanes.
I managed to get out in the back yard and sling a few arrows this AM. I built 4 different combinations over the past few days. 1. Left helical, 450G 2. Right helical, 450G 3. Left helical, 500G 4. Right helical, 500G I know left and right probably don't make a difference but I have both clamps so I figured do it for science. Turns out, it doesn't make a difference. They look to fly to same to the naked eye and slow motion cell phone video, they group the same, and they have same POI. Adding the 50G made a big difference in how they fly. There is no wobble whatsoever. The lighter arrows had a little twitch every once in a while but still flew great...way better than what I need them to do. Final hunting combination: 125G grim reaper 12G aluminum insert with 50G added to the back Gold tip hunter 300XT 29.5" Blazer vanes w/4" wrap Regular nock 498 grains, 30.5" draw, 72lbs, 291 FPS (according to the calculators, I need to take it to the shop and chrono it) should be enough take down a whitetail at 20 yards 40 yards
We're 5 days away from opening day and I've been practicing my "cold bore" shooting at 40 yards. I'll shoot one arrow....come back a couple hours later and shoot another, etc. It's one thing to be able to shoot a good shot on your 15th arrow, but you don't get any warm up shots on a deer....they tend to run away after the first one. Today's first arrow was dead center....just shot my second and it was touching the first. I'll take that.
