Yepper. Aware of that. It's easily available locally and may be a option for sealing the collar components. That was my thought.

Too late now. I got everything bolted on and sealed down. The damper moves easily. I got a air tight connection and when i tightened up everything the mil- pac oozed out of both sides. The 2 piece adapter boot is sealed good. It was a flat fit so I just used furnace cement to attach those two assemblies and used 1/4” bolts. I threaded the top of the square tubing for 4 1/4” bolts. It was also a smooth flat surface so the bolts made a tight seal. Of coarse I ran a couple of beads of the mil-pac black under the boot adapter between the square tubing adapter as well. On top of the stove the surface was rough from surface rust so I ran 1/2 flat fiberglass door sealer that had an adhesive side by side all around and also around and under the damper rod. Another two beads of mil-pac and 4 more 1/4” bolts secured the whole unit to the stove top. Then I ran a good bead of sealer around all the seams.

Should of took pictures of the process but my hands were too nasty from the sealant. So far it looks good but time will tell how it will work.

Cured the Mil-PAC Black today after reading horror stories about the amount of smoke and odor from people who used it. No instructions on the sealant so After reading several reviews about the same problem I opted to roll the insert back outside. I fired it up to almost 900 degrees and kept that temperature until the smoke and fumes stopped. Probably took about 90 minutes but it cured with no more off gassing. I’m pleased with how it’s all airtight and the damper works easily with no leaks anywhere. Still have some propane to finish off before I line the chimney but with temperatures in the high 50s to the low 60 all week it’s going to be a little while yet.

Thanks for all the suggestions along the way. I really appreciate all advice from each of you. Handshake to you all and Happy New Year.

    Update
I ran out of gas yesterday. Today i removed the gas logs and the damper. Used a air chisel a saws all and a cutoff grinder to get enough clearance for the 8” insulated liner. All was going well until the liner would not clear where the transition from the flue to the top of the smoke shelf.

This old man has had enough for one day. Tomorrow I will chisel out enough room for the liner to go the last 6’. Right now about 10’ hanging out the top of the chimney.

Got to finish tomorrow because major snow storm expected this weekend.

Thanks for your help along the way with this project. Firm handshake to you all.
