You can't beat that view!

 

Nice cabin Stinny, my friend built one on Lower Wilson in Greenville on family land, he originally had a generator but now has solar power, a propane fridge and lights and a wood stove. He closes it for the winter since the road doesn't get plowed and they get up to 5-6 feet of snow where he is.
You have any close up pics of your wood rack on casters? I want to build one of those.

 

Thanks. Your friend did well to find a decent propane frig. We'd love to get one for our cabin. Either they're waaaay too expensive or used ones... don't exist. I'll go find some build pics of those wood bins...

1st inspection (Giz is a hardazz)



All 2x4s glued and screwed (box is gonna get slammed by wood). A 2x6 pc was added where the red screw bin is. Also glued.



The 2 end panels had blocking glued & screwed also. Then all screwed together down in the basement.



Boxes are 32"w x 48"h x 60"d. 4" HD casters, 2 solid, 2 swivel. Aluminum 3/4" edging. Steel corner angle to slide panels in

Thanks Stinny, I should have been more specific, I forgot you did those too, the one I want to try and build is in this pic behind the stove.

 

OK... that was made with left over pieces of 4"x6" beams I got for the cabin rafters. It can roll over to the door to help load in a bit. I think the main 4x6s are about 5', point to point (45 degree angles). Then a couple of 4x6 x 12" between the main pcs at either end. Screwed together with 6"x5/16" const screws. 2x6 end posts. Some old 2" casters I had.

 

thanks Stinny, that's why I want to make one, roll it to the door and load up, I used to open the double doors I had and roll my wood hauler right in to a big bin, I now have a slider that only opens a bout 20 inches so trying to make life easier.

 

Now that I've used the 4" HD casters on the bins vs those 2" on the rack... I'd put 4" on your rack. Much easier to roll with the weight.

 

I have a dozen casters, Ill have to measure them, not sure off the top of my head what size they are. I have 4 different sets.

 

And, ROLLS!

Hard to find anything above 1-5 acres these days, but they're out there. A real unusual chunk came up right across the road from us here. A nice young couple had 65 acres with their house, that they had always intended to split and sell part of it. They just sold 55 acres out back of 4- 2 acre house lots (w/homes)... the 55 acres came with a 60' swath straight back from the road about 150' to the tree line. The new owners have staked where they want their drive to be (at an angle away from ours, which is nice) all the way back to where they're going to build a home back in the woods this next spring. Looking forward to meeting them.
