In the process, we're taking it slow...painting...getting things settled the way we want them gradually, we are also waiting for a few service items from the modular manufacture, those should be wrapped up this week, we contracted for a little more site work too, some final grading, it would be nice if that happened before we live there but not critical, we don't have to be out of the temp housing by any deadline.

Oh and I MUST be able to watch the World Series, there is no cable or internet at the new place...yet...it's coming.

    Painting help.:picard:

Yes, getting the painting and yard work done before moving in is a high priority. I have been in a move where we moved in and then proceeded to tear the living room and kitchen apart to renovate. Feeding six people from a tent trailer for a couple of weeks gets old quick.

And I agree. Watching the World Series is a must. Should be an interesting series this year.

I was hoping for the Brewers.

Wise guy huh?...you'll never guess what my wife asked me while painting today...I hadn't even given the Christmas tree location a single thought.:heidi:

I take it that the hounds have embraced the new house especially the new viewing room. I hope there are no squirrels in the stacks in view of that window.

Will you move all your wood stacks from the old place to storage at the new place or do you have to start all over again?

I've started moving wood from our old place to this house, just storing on pallets under tarps for now, and yes the stack is directly below the hound window, and right outside the basement door.:). I'll start splitting all of the wood from the lot clearing once we've settled in a bit.

Looks great Dave! How's the heat making it upstairs? It'll take some time for the concrete to heat up, but once that happens..... heated floors!

First fire was today while my daughter and I were there painting, just a small one, the stove burned well on the new chimney, I repainted the stove and wanted to cure the paint/burn the stink off while I could ventilate the house. The plan is for a Dutch door at the top of the basement stairs to let some heat up.

    Congratulations!!
Great thread, not sure how I missed it until now. The whole project took me only a half hour! I bet it felt like a lifetime to you at times this summer. Thanks for sharing so many details on the costs. Our 3600 sq ft house has us eyeing a new, smaller build further back in on the property with the kids moved out. I suspect I’ll be re-reading a this thread a number of times, and knowing real world costs is worth a lot.
Again, congrats on the vision and on seeing it through!
