Nice Job ! Looking at those pictures and looking at the pile of logs gets me thinking someone needs a sawmill.
We had a Mobile Dimension mill back in 1980, ran it for my dad a few years. Had enough of milling then...there are several folks in my area with mills now. Some of these logs are saw quality, then we find some that has center rot beginning. We will be busy for awhile, for sure...
After getting off work Tuesday morning, we went to a different spot and cut up part of a top the broke off in the storm Friday. I'll put that in the "Git'ter done down in Dixie" thread. Then we made it over to the regular site. Dropped a couple smaller sweet gums, a pine that yielded several 12' saw logs. Then we started on the oaks. Had 1 bushy water oak, only got 1 log on the trailer from it, a few decent size limbs. Most went on the brush pile. Then we had several small red and water oaks to drop and clean up. Finally got into the big trees. Dropped 5 of those. Only loaded a few bottom cuts to finish the load. We quit about 5:00 PM. I'll get better pictures of the big trees tomorrow. Only 1 load yesterday...

We must have a southern porkie...lol... Beech tree with some serious bark damage. Might be some pizzed off squirrels, since we are taking their oaks... The pile of short and smaller limbs/logs. Our son and his FIL will probably get this.
Just curious, you don't cut the limb wood right after felling the tree when a lot of it is up off the ground?
Oh yes. We trim the limbs out, cut them off about 1-1/2" dia, then cut into manageable size, load on the grapple and dump in that pile. Sometimes, if they are long, cut them from the stem, and trim after main stem is loaded. Pile brush on pile with tractor. Trying to haul 9-10.5' logs on trailer right now. Makes stacking when we get tractor home quicker. Also, don't have doors on trailer right now, hinge got broken.
Thank you, my friend. We haven't even finished the front yard yet. Total so far, 9 trailer loads of mostly oak to the house, 2 loads of pine went to the neighbor, with 1+ load on the ground now, a load of good size sweet gum to the local mill, a pile of small gum for the chipper, I hope.

Yes sir. We did it the hard way for years, been nice to see the progression. Miz Carol stated the other day how glad she was that we finally got the grapple.
Our friend at the clearing site got a permit this morning. He's got 2 piles going... He said "It's HOT"...
