We went back to the site Saturday, the homeowner helped us. Best day so far, got the equivalent of 4 loads down.
We cleaned up some big limbs from the last time, then started on the tall pines. 0423221404_HDR.jpg
His neighbor has a small Wood Mizer mill and wanted the logs. Hauled 2 loads of 12 &16' saw logs to him 0423221248.jpg 0423221536~2.jpg
He didn't have room for more, so we set these to the side, about another load 0423222021.jpg
We cut a small oak and loaded a few pieces from last time we were there. Needed another tree to finish the load. We dropped one of the biggest oaks there. 0423221822.jpg

    On the ground... 0423221823c.jpg
    Got it loaded... 0423222019~2.jpg
Also dropped another sweet gum. Got 1 log for the cross tie mill. Next cut had center rot/hollow... 0423222021a.jpg

Nice work Jeff, but at the risk of sounding like the safety nanny, WHERE IS YOUR HARD HAT?

After enjoying a trip up to MI, it was time to start back hoarding wood. We went Saturday, it was a little more windy that I liked, but with the tractor's help, got them on the ground safely.
Grapple really helped getting this big PO vine off this red oak. 0507221035.jpg
Smaller 2 stem water oak 0507221035a.jpg
Big water oak. This 1 had some center rot farther up the trunk. 0507221035b.jpg
A couple more red oaks... 0507221035c.jpg

    2nd load... 0507221940.jpg

    The combined pile 0507222016.jpg
We took down 7 oaks and a nice sweet gum total, added 3 more cross tie logs to that pile on the jobsite.

We only worked a couple hrs this morning, had to take grandson to preschool by 8:30, pick him up by 11:30. But a step forward is better than standing still.
Loaded the sweet gum logs for the mill, then dropped the sweet gum next to the house, got 3 more logs for the mill. The guy was pleased. I hope we can haul the smaller stuff to them for chipping. 0509221108.jpg
The homeowner was worried about the 3 tall skinny pines, we had a storm roll thru Friday, with damage in several areas in the county.
So we had time to lay those down also. 22671.jpeg
Even with a 1" or so hinge, this one still wanted to split a little, probably should have clipped the corners. 22669.jpeg
And they were TALL, tape reel measured out to 82-84'... 22680.jpeg

The pine log pile is growing 0509221053.jpg
The house is in full view now 0509221052.jpg
Probably gonna need to pull this big oak next to the house. May save it for the man lift, if I can find the tree under the PO vines.... 22686.jpeg
amateur cutter I remembered to wear my brain bucket today......especially after hearing walt story...

Really kicking azz getting that done Jeff. Nice to get back to hoarding after a vacation.

I saw the house pic and did a double take. My old neighbor built the exact house only with a three car garage. Many years looking at it hard to forget.
