Picked up the antenna on Thu night and tried it out Fri afternoon early. Mounted it onto the tripod/mast assembly, tested the rotor, then lifted it onto the roof, tested the rotor again. All fine. Nothing. Nothing at all, even bought a new TV for the occasion with the auto program channel detection feature. Turns out, I had the same troubles that many others in the reviews of same product had. Rotor quit working, cable to antenna broke off in connector plug and one of the mast mounts was shot. Walmart has the antenna back, and my search continues. In looking back on it, I was only kidding myself thinking that an antenna for $30 would be able to pick up any signals reliably in the far outreaches of the U.P. (but I hadda try)
I would have been satisfied with the reception of one channel. I believe it was your testimony that made me go ahead and try it.
I am surprised it didnt work for you-- we live in the middle of nowhere and get a bunch of channels from far away lands.
Well, there's the whole "computer guru" thing workin for ya, too..... That OTA of yours would thwart any other person.....
Yes....... It will come......... but I tend to get an idea, post about it and never do it, so make a lot of popcorn.
Yeah, but the middle of nowhere in Iowa compared to the middle of nowhere in the U.P. is quite a bit different terrain, no?
Not where I am in the U.P. The channels I would have liked to get were in lower parts of their respective terrain as compared to where I am. Lots of interference in between us. If the stations you are receiving are broadcasting from the hilly parts, maybe that's helping?
Have had pretty good luck here... Solid Signal Read reviews by other UP fans. Go here and get the frequencies in your area (plus lotsa other help)... TV Fool I used to use one of those small antennas, but much of Balto and DC switched back to VHF and I had to switch to a Winegard 7695p, plus rotor. I live in a real bad spot for DC interference.
