Thing is that those predator engines are excellent. At least my personal experience is that the 212cc 6.6 HP horizontal shaft one is excellent. Honestly maybe the best single cylinder engine like that, that you can buy. I was at harbor freight for a post level and I saw that the 212cc predator is now 99.95 vs 150 on spring sale.

They are just copies of the best engines made (flattery and all) by someone living in poverty under a communist government. Say you were to invent a really cool product. One that is useful to many people and desired because of. You get everything pattented, squared away and begin manufacturing your widgets. You need $155.00 for each of the widgets in order to maintain your operation and make a profit. Some time passes, your business is doing great. Suddenly a ccp copy of your widget hits the market for $50. 6 months later your sales have dropped to the point where you are in the red...your customers didn't want to pay for your name.

Being that my profession is in the Supply Chain and Procurement side, there's just some things that don't make sense to make anywhere but countries that it costs less to make the goods. Not all Chinese stuff is bad quality. There's India too, and if the negotiations between the president and China keep going as they are, India is going to eat China's lunch on castings and such. We'll see.
