I think I’m through all the paperwork and checks, just a little waiting now. I loaded some ammo for the 6.5 Creedmoor, have the barrel thread adapter. Hopefully the sound reduction is enough to make it all worthwhile.
Worth it. My example is 5.7x28mm. Ear piercing from a pistol in my opinion for such a bitty thing. While not technically 'hearing safe' suppressed is very doable without ears.
I have no experience with a 6.5 Creedmoor. Depends on what you want to do with it, but if you shoot subsonic ammo then that will obviously be your maximum sound suppression. Realizing that the effective range and terminal ballistics will be different than supers and w/o can. Will it be worth it / worthwhile....that's in the eye of the beholder.....
I have shot subs through a can before and was very impressed, so not worried about that. I am more concerned about my 22-250. It will make your ears bleed. I just want to be able to hunt with it without wearing muffs because deer season is a major pain with muffs on.
Oh I know. I've hunted with ear plugs or muffs for years. I have taken one shot without earpro in probably the last 15 years. That was only because the wife shot a small buck, and I jumped it while tracking and had to take the shot with shotgun. It really sucks turkey hunting.
There age less expensive mistake coming out, more realistically priced from known brands. Lyman sonicore I think it's called. Like under $400. Maybe less. You think that 308 is loud, try a 300 win mag with the Browning BOSS system. That's downright ridiculously loud.
Anything with a muzzle brake is asinine on sound chart. Muzzle brakes help with recoil : yes. Obnoxious on the sound charts.
Range line faux pas. I have a mini 14 that needs to be all the way right due to violent casing ejections. It has left a mark on someone's face long time ago. I take heed since.
Minis like to chuck cases. Both of mine have. There's ways to mitigate that, and casing catchers too. That was at a sight in day at a club pre deer in season with the BOSS browning. There was a guy with a t/c contender pistol with a brake in 7mm-08 I believe. That was even louder.
I been shopping for another rimfire can and need another 9mm capable of handling 357. I might just wait until things settle down (after tax refund season).
I’m not sure of actual wait times right now, but when I submitted a form 1 on the 18th, the number was 1.8x million. Might be a long wait, so if you want to get one, get your name on the list.
OK, my ‘can’ came today, I tested it on my 20” barreled 243. First off, I don’t know what the fuss is all about, the gun is still in the 22 LR+ level as far as noise. I think one should be able to buy a suppressor like you buy a scope. One can also buy the quiet type of 22 ammo, lower speed, lower report. They still have enough power for damage at close range. This Nosler Suppressor is longer than I expected. It’s for up to 30 cal. I think I’ll use it more on my 16.25” 6.5 Creedmoor. Anyway, with a regular rifle, full power ammo, one will still hear the shot. I do realize one can tailor the gun & ammo for less noise, 300 blackout, 22, & similar.
Yep, they are still 130+ db on a full power rifle, but that is literally about 1,000x quieter than without. I have been shooting my 22 cal form 1 can lately and love it. It has warmed up a lot here and it sounds MUCH quieter in 40° temps than at -20. It is a night and day difference. It is also much more accurate with the can on it.
