Congrats , a lot of there . Better get at it or your yard will really be messed up You can't catch it all but this is what I did, noodlin
We cut from 9a-4p today and got 3/4 of it ready to split. Hopefully it doesn't rain all day tomorrow and we will be able to get it all ready for the splitter. I'm guessing 10 cords. Mostly all large diameter ash and oak but also found a 16" hackberry and 18" walnut.
Yes, I don't know how many dump trailers were emptied at my house this winter, but it was at least 3. It ended up being about 5 cords. When bucking the logs down, I tried to cut so that the chips would spray onto the asphalt driveway so I could easily shovel/ sweep up the chips. That got a lot of chips taken care of quickly, but there were still several mounds of chips from bucking on my lawn. It took until last weekend for me to get them cleaned up enough to be happy with it. I just mowed the lawn for the first time this week.
Nice! I spy a dolkita that appears to have worked hard today. Is that a 6421? Or has it been enhanced?
Sweet deal firefighter938, and a sincere but ornery "You $uck!" That's some serious wood & work Be careful, and keep bringing the pics!
Yes, 6421 and not enhanced---- yet. It did very well though until I lost a bar nut. Then I had to switch over to my husky 268 and finally I started using my husky 450 because it's a little lighter.
A little stiff this morning but nothing some Alieve won't help. If it stops raining I'm going to try and finish it up.
Good luck on that rain. Looks like you could be in it for quite some time. Hope you keep it south of us!
Hands down the funniest post I've seen in some time. I can almost imagine the look on your wife's face as her nice yard disappeared. Priceless
Just an update. These pictures are old, most of this is gone and stacked now. We've c/s/s somewhere around 7-8cord. Some of that has been given to neighbors for fire pit usage. Some to elderly neighbors that like to have a fire in there fireplace, etc. I think there is probably another 2 cord on the ground that needs stacked still. I'm out of pallets and racks so tomorrow is going to start with me on the hunt for free pallets. I'm now on the 4 year plan. Thankfully a lot of this was oak and a big hickory that kicked our butts on the splitter. Of course the ash was nice to work with.
Stocking the neighbors with fire pit wood is a good way to get them to look the other way when you run saws.
Why do you not just stack on some poles? Cut some saplings in the woods, lay them down and stack on top of them. Need more height? Cut some small trees to lay down (I'd suggest ash or locust).
