I've dealt with this since I was a kid. Toe cramps constantly. 4 decades later I found the cure, for me. Salt. Lots of salt. Google explanation: If you sweat a lot, youre are sweating out your sodium (electrolyte). Drinking lots of water (I do) dilutes your remaining electrolytes. After several months of eating tons of salt, I just got my annual blood work back. Doc says sodium level is good. YMMV. Works for me.

Too much salt is a bad thing. High blood pressure etc. I'm sure ask your doc is the proper response.
I've always ate lots of salt. Now I eat lots more. Not many people can get away with that. But when I'm working, I'm sweating. And I'll drink 2 gallons of water a day on a long hot day.

I find a lot of body issues like cramps, headaches, muscle and joint pain are caused by dehydration. And like fox9988 mentioned above, drinking lots of fluids is key but the right fluids matter. Coffee, beer etc are diuretics that make you pass more fluids. I find when sweating a lot that water alone doesn't replenish the lost electrolytes so I drink sports drinks like Gatorade periodically too. Went through almost a case during the past few weeks of hunting when I put on 5-7 miles of humping through the bushand up and down hills a day. Before this practice of adding the sports drinks I would have terrible leg cramps.

My cure all is eat organic pasture raised food, avoid ALL inorganic grains but a small amount of organic is fine, and cannabis. Most modern diseases can be cured with real food and weed, for real!
There is only one plant on Earth that we actually have an entire system in our body to match, the endocannabinoid system. Humans are designed to process and require cannabis, it is truly the cure all medicine.

It's all your fault! I've had exactly two outbreaks of Gout in my life, last one 9 years ago. That is until today. I read this post earlier in the week and BAM! Hmm - big toe joint starts hurting, funny I don't remember banging it on anything... Hurts more next day, get out of bed this morning and Holy Crap, can't hardly Frikken walk. Yup - 3rd flair-up of my life - sheesh.

And that pic with you posted with that monster chewing on your toe joint is not an exaguration, if anything the pain is worse than what that pic suggests.

On top of it all, I don't eat meat, nor do I drink, both main causes for Gout flairups - What gives?

    Happy Thanksgiving to all,

Crazy!!!! No word of a lie, the same thing happened to me this week. It's been years since I had a flare up and in the past two days my right big toe has been excruciatingly painful :hair:

Power of suggestion after reading this thread maybe...
Unlike you I have been enjoying my fair share of meats and beer over the past few weeks. Putting my hydration theory to the test

I also enjoyed some fresh venison heart in the past few weeks. Looked it up and found this info regarding organ meat.

On a side note, last year at one camp after a large steak diner, one member who is a hospital lab tech made sure everyone consumed a couple bottles of water to help flush the kidneys.

No gout here but can I complain about RA? Elbows hot and angry, feel 6" wide, middle knuckles in the fingers the same, and stupid hips won't let me sleep when or if I find a comfortable position for stupid elbows. Thinking about a pred taper for flare, or maybe just adding an extra 2.5 at night.
