    I cut all my wood so far with a stock, and probably a bit tired 029 super. We've had it since new in 2000, or was it 01? It's cut so many cords of wood I wouldn't be shocked if it is a little tired. In the off season I'll check compression, and at least do a muffler mod, along with 18" bar and narrow kerf chain.

    I don't know what makes a 290 different than an 029 super, but if it's the same HP/ displacement, it's a capable saw.
