Did quite a bit of splitting and stacking this weekend. I seemed to never have had my phone on me for pics. It was raining Saturday so i didnt want to get it wet. I have also been going back out around 7pm or so and hand splitting in the tire lately. The stuff iv been splitting is quarry wood from late Aug/September, its been maple and cherry birch. That stuff really pops wide open with my Dads old craftsman maul, iv put the x27 aside lately and been enjoying that. My buddy put a bid on a40 acre lot down the road rt next door to my sisters house which is 15 seconds away. I hope he gets it because he the type that wot step foot beyond the backyard so you know what that means.
My dad too, he comes over and helps but he uses my splitter and i love my splitter also but i still enjoy a maul here and there.
I think it's been 2 years now since I've been able to do any splitting by hand except for maybe 3 or 4 pieces that were on the wood pile that I thought were perhaps too big to put in the stove.
I use a digital camera for pics (dont have/want a smart phone) and forget it on occasion. Seems like its standard equipment now with a chain saw & axe when i go hoarding as we love sharing our adventures! Split on my friend! Hand splitters do it with an axe!
