You can still get the OE 372XP new for $900 if you know where to look…

I used to be a "stihl only" guy, mostly because that's what I started on and what everyone around had. The hasqvarna's I ran were owned by people who didn't maintain them. My first foray into husqvarna saws was when a friend asked me to fix one of his saws (a 350). I got it fixed and ported it. I fell in love when I made a few test cuts. He asked me to do his other saw as well, and now several years later I have several orange saws of my own. We still cut together and he loves his ported 350, and I love mine.

Stihl makes a good saw, so don't think I'm rippin on 'em, but a husqvarna just runs different. I have both, but the stihls usually sit on the shelf. I have noticed that Stihl makes a thirsty saw...
Stihl seems to have more low end grunt while Husqvarna really has it on the top end.

Brazil or Swedish manufacture? I think the newer 395s are Brazillian made now? I could be mistaken.

This is my experience as well, generally speaking. My 394 was a grunt meister stock then after Shaun ground on it, :jaw:. I've only ran ported Stihls that could match it.

Lots of 2 series husqvarna still cutting wood around where I live. We had a husqvarna dealer from 1984 to 2015. You had to go 20 miles to buy a stihl. 20230604_151519.jpg

Makes no difference, they run the same. Zero issues out of my Brazilian 395 that I have had for 2 years now.

It does from a collecting standpoint. To say that the physical location has no bearing on manufacturing quality is pretty short sighted.

The only factor that guy was looking at was appearance. I would be more concerned with how the mechanicals are assembled.

To me, it's more about the quality of the components. The only way to make it cheaper is to change the quality of the components. Germany, Austria, Sweden, USA, all parts I like vs. Chinese quality. Although some chinese made pieces can be great.

Husky has been assembling them there for some time now. If there were issues, the forums would be flooded with people bitching about it.

I have a lead on a barely used 268. Not at my usual spot. I could get a 300 anniversary 266 tomorrow. Just sayin

    I guess for me it would be a 266, 288, and a 2100.

I’d buy them and flip them, they are in demand. I did happen to notice the thread isn’t “What old Stihl’s are must haves” so there is that…
