I have found tires and rims on amazon for only like $15 more than just the exact same tire alone. If my rims were ugly I would just buy them mounted. In cities many places charge lots to mouth t them even here $5 a tire if unbalanced your close to the whole package price already if I balance them its about the same price as the whole deal.

Keep in mind you can buy like a 4x6 trailer with new tires from harbor freight (no sides) for $250+tax.

Just thought I would mention that before you buy $100 of tires. And $50 bearings etc and anything else. Yours is a better trailer though.

This is what I have Dave, tires have good tread and are not cracked.

Dave, I don't know what you have for tools but if you know where to get one, an air hammer would help remove that stuck hitch. Lube it up and tie it off to something. Put someone behind the wheel and have them pull gently. Then put the vibes to it and it should slide out.

I have one that looks way better than that I think. Let me look. I will offer the same deal as HD.

But honestly it probably would not be to much more for new ones on amazon?? Just thoughts. Tires and rims are heavy!

    I agree HD!!! Nice offer.

    And I looked mine is a 4.80x12 I think. Its a 12" rim tire.

Still can have it its just not an 8" rim.

Wow, thanks HDRock and clemsonfor ,you're very generous. Neither of those will work, the hub is 5 lug and a 12" won't fit in the fender.

I called the local tire shop, they were very helpful, but didn't have anything in stock that would work, 8" was lower load range and smaller tire. They also suggested it would be cheaper to buy a new wheel with the tire already mounted than to pay to have a tire mounted on the old wheels. Here is what I found, $100 for two to my door.

That gets you up to date on tires. Most likely won't need another for years. Is one of the old ones in good enough condition for a spare? If that trailer is OK for hauling wood, I would recondition it as time an money allow. Can't go wrong having a trailer on hand.

Yep, it's got stake pockets, so pretty easy to make up sides. A couple new/repacked bearings and the sides, and you've got a nice little workhorse.
Am I seeing some kind of hardwood for decking?

As Papa Dave said if there stake pockets make up some 2x4 rails to go into them.

New tires are the best bet. Old ones just blow out and leak air over time...esp when loaded.

I was going to the farm a year or so ago. I bought some older mounted tires in the rims for my ranger. I dismounted them and put on my rims. I knew the age and they really were not that old but had small crack from age. On the way there at like 11pm at night one let go. Had about an inch gash on the sidewall. Maybe I hit something that I never heard? Maybe it was a small stick? But it went flat in about a minute and a half for. The leak.

Are they 14" rims? Its probably the standard size of 205/75/14 the fenders looked big to me and I though the 8"ers HD was offering were small but thought he knew something I didnt?

I know new ones can sting but they will probably last you 10-15 years based on use.

I need to buy 2 new tires for my 16ft dovetail trailer. Its got 2 really splitting tires and one is bulging in the tread. I can get two shipped to me from amazon for less than $120

Wait they are 8"? I was thinking you said bigger? Oh well HD did know something. My poor reading got me again. I mean I can read well and comprehend but I read and skip sometimes as I am going fast skimming a post.

Walmart has those assemblies and may be just as cheap? And no shipping.

I guess I missed it before, I went back and looked at your pictures and it says 570 right on the tongue.
new tires and some bearing grease you will be ready to roll
Get some of those straight poles like you built your shed out of, shave the ends to fit in those stake pockets, screw them together, like you did and you're ready to go, free material out of the woods :tree:
And that would be some cool looking sides on that bugger too

You can even buy complete hubs pre loaded with grease n bearings all you do is unscrew the castle nut and tighten it back down but you have to know how tight or you will smoke um. There not cheap but might beat the hastle and time a mechanic
