What is the starting system on that tractor? Doesn't look like a pony motor...which the neighbor has a couple of those...
I’d guess electric start??? I’d like to have a pony start 730 some day. I think it’s pretty neat. Or an old D-8 cat with a pony start
Ever try to un flood a old flip the flywheel deere?? I think it's the origin of cussing. Speaking of pony motors I was given a 4 cylinder Waukesha engine that was the pony off of a big Waukesha engine.
Really nice progress - looking great. This is a bucket list experience for me. Really like how you are going at this.
It’s electric start. Gasoline powered. The 730 Diesel and R both had pony cranking motors but I don’t recall that any gas powered did. Interesting though that they were positive ground back then. Why? really don’t know and never bothered to ask
Used to be common to occasionally swap polarity to extend point life. Most starters are shunt wound and polarity doesn't change rotation. Kinda hard on the spark plugs though.
I’ve got about 100 pictures so far and a long way to go. I’ll have to figure out how to make up some kind of album link I can post for everyone to look through.
I’ve got a ‘44 A that was given to me by a neighbor and I remember helping him dry it out one time. Man what a work out! If you know the trick to starting them and have them tuned right it’s surprising how easy they start.
Old video I had from 2017… She’s a tired old girl waiting in my long line up of projects. https://youtube.com/shorts/fClAAbKSAYI?si=aJsr5uyRz1ZdeSL7 Disregard the wall in the background it was there when we bought the place…
