Sirius still has the Radio Classic channel Radio Classics - Classic Radio Shows - SiriusXM Radio

    I always liked Gunsmoke.

I listen to a lot of the older stuff. I like comparing the various incarnations of Gunsmoke and Dragnet. Currently I'm listening to the Bing Crosby and Rosemary Clooney Show that GE sponsored. I have a little issue at the current time with my ability to serve the shows. I changed my set-up to rid it of a wall wart and be able to use a higher speed internet plan my older modem could only handle up to 37 Mbs so I bought a Netgear C3700 all in one and while the modem is working just fine the firmware on the router side makes one of the features of limited use. I have several thousand media files, the unit is supposed to be able to handle 25,000 but it craps out indexing them at well less than that. I've been in touch with Netgear's tech group and things are now at level 3. Even had a phone session with them. I'm about to set my new unit into bridge mode and re connect the Netgear WNDR4500 router which had my entire collection indexed and available for streaming.

It is a pain to have to start the computer just to listen or watch my media.

I use to download to my computer also, but now I use an android app for it. The files are pretty small so going beyond my data plan isn't a problem.

Dragnet is a very well written show. I enjoy Tales of the Texas Rangers for apolice/detective show. Johnny Dollar is another good one, but they switched the main actor for that show quite a few times, so it's not as consistent.

I have just a few devices around that I can let my router serve content to, with a 1TB USB port powered hard drive I can push out a mell of a hess of content at UP to 300 Mbs with the C3700 or higher with the 4500. In short my limitation is what the devices can swallow. It is not unusual for several streams to be going and a rather large archive to be downloading at the same time.

On the android devices Goodplayer is used since it supports several different means of accessing the media. I use VLC on the computers. I haven't even tried to figure out what the smart tv is using (damm thing doesn't like Pluto.TV).

The routers are running a DLNA server (based on MiniDLNA), I have KODI on my Linux machine. I was fun playing with all of the DLNA servers on the computer.

Have you looked here vTuner Internet Radio for any old radio shows?

Sorry, I spent a good fraction of my life working or playing with software controlled items. I've likely forgotten more than the average IT/CS person knows given what I've run into. I got started back in 1969 and more than a little water has gone over or through the dams since then, entire companies and systems have come and gone several of them I worked with, on, or for.

Currently I have a small I7 4770 machine running Linux, 2TB and 16GB, a 50Mbs internet plan (can't get a faster one here) that is delivering 60+ down and 6+ up. I had to replace my backup last summer when I wanted to update the software and my backup unit couldn't handle my data. I splurged and got a Seagate 5TB USB3 unit just to hold several copies of my data. Will likely be doing another upgrade shortly.

Linux is great. We use them as Internet and data servers. Stable as a rock.

I've been using Linux since 2.1.19 days (1996) to escape the *blows world being used at the office, terminals to the *frames were *blows boxes.

One of the folks I did a lot of work for had a Linux server cluster that he ran a small hosting firm and a couple of websites on. He is still running a couple of sites but I'm fairly certain he isn't operating a hosting company any more, he sold the primary site in the fall of 2006 and I did some work for the new owners until they got their hands around it (It sort of grew like topsy there was no real development plan for it).
