    I have two large plastic trash barrels with tops in the enclosed porch that I fill with wood.Critters can't get out if they are in the wood.I fill the stove when needed.When empty I take the barrels outside and dump out the loose dirt,critters and wood chips then refill.I have the same setup in the cellar where the other stove is.It works out well.

    I hit the pile with the backpack blower every few weeks to keep the area critter free. Yet another reason the neighbors probably think I'm crazy.
