Agreed, the gentlemen who owns the building that my insurance office is in has a wind turbine. It’s 100 feet tall and the blades have to be 10 feet long. He said it was $25k and it “made him about $50 per month” now I don’t know if that is $50 over his power bill or what. I didn’t ask but he said his only regret is not buying a bigger one. Most times when I ride by it’s sitting still. Like a boat anchor.

Okay, I would say that is accurate. My Uncle has the same thing and said his saves him $65 a month in electricity, but cost $17,000 to buy, but has had several repairs on it since too.

In Maine, they are either going to a 2 for 1 credit system now, or talking about it. For the longest time, if he put 1 KW on the grid, he got 1 KW as a credit when he had to buy power which was a pretty sweet deal because he was basically getting a retail price for his power. Now they are changing it so that he has to put out 2 KW on the grid for every 1 KW he gets back as a credit.

But keep in mind, Maine also has deregulated power too.

No matter what however; when people consider these things...and keep in mind as a farmer I get tons of grants and low interest loans: "When you take the King's Pence, you also do his bidding." In other word's, when you take the Government's money, you have to do what they say with it, and there is always a lot of strings attached.
