Many many times and lots of beer...:picard: I cant justify paying a mechanic when I know how or can figure out how to fix it and buy the tools at a fraction of the cost.

Even worse are ball joints with boot clips those drive me absaluty insane!!

We did a "cardan" (no doubt my spelling is off) ujoint years ago by hand. Out in the garage. Below 0*F . Not fun. We were snowed in during a blizzard, and took turns hammering the cradle to get both ujoints out.

For whatever reason, we beat on the double yoke for two days straight with every tool imaginable, to get the old ones out.
[IMG] We finally did in the end

We will pay someone with proper equipment to replace them in the future

Even with a 30 ton press and proper holding fixtures they are a pain. Of course you should see the price difference between those and drive shafts that have cv joints instead.

Holy moly. I have one of these (or something similiar) and have been wondering what it was for years. Makes sense, it came in a lot of communication tools including a bunch of BNC stuff. There was no model # or any markings to google other than the manufacturer.

Thanks for the heads up! Who'd have though I'd learn about communications tools on a firewood website.

In fact, mine is this guy right here:

As far as the original context of this thread goes, I will indeed fess up, I am a tool hoarder extraordinaire. Most of my tools I have bought at auctions, estate sales, etc. Many of them also came from various estate cleaning jobs I have done. Most tools I have I paid pennies on the dollar for.

Here is a quick taste of my horribly cluttered shop and a few of my tool boxes. These boxes are mostly full although I re-arrange so often it is common to find an empty drawer or two. Ignore the yellow squares, they are just blocking out articles that as I understand it are not allowed here.
