Chips in your shoes/ boots sucks. the chips stick in your socks. pants over boots, and the chaps over low top shoes works for brief cutting sessions. Anything I plan on cutting for more than a couple of minutes I wear hiking boots.

I can't stand the smell of the true fuel premix. I have a buddy that only runs that stuff in his makita 6100. He likes not worrying about mixing and fuel going bad. It's an acrid harsh smell though and it burns my nostrils and throat a little. The amsoil sabre smells great. the lucas stuff isn't great to smell either, but there's definitely worse smelling oils. most oils don't bother me at all.

Yep I sure would. I'd have a fire going. I'd let you run the saws I'll be dragging brush and feeding the fire too!! :fire:

It was 59-60 the last few mornings here and the other evening it was in the 60s and I rode the golf cart to the house from the Fire station after our meeting. Was in shorts and short sleeves and I was freezing. It's not even a half mile. I was telling the cutter man for one of my loggers. He said yea I was out last night riding too and thought I wanted a jacket. He was like it's not even that cold and all us down here are freezing. But those people up north be working in below zero. I said yea think of how hard that would be, can't work on chit with gloves on and if you take them off your hands are numb and freezing so bad they hurt in a few mins.

I have cut wood more than a few times in triple digit temps. Let me tell you it saps it out of you way more than even at 91f or so. It seems like it's exponential.

I'd much rather cut in cooler weather than hot! :dennis:
Once it's above 80º for me, I'm done!!! But I'm fat also, so that is what takes it out of me! Once the sweat pumps turn on, I can wring out a shirt every 5 minutes. :picard:

This is how I feel.... Porky and I know it well...

I started wearing long sleeve coveralls and tall steel toe boots if I'm doing more than a few test cuts or GTG play.
Plus chaps over the coveralls. Its awesome when its 90+ out and the dew point is 60+. Stupid is as stupid does I guess. Lol

Ive only tested the 50:1 truefuel diluted down to 200 then 300:1. It smells exactly like Echo red Armor to me and performance was pretty much identical in my testing. It has the group and myself wondering if Truefuel might have a deal with Echo. As in, Echo provides oil to the them and Truefuel supplies fuel to Echo for their canned fuel. We have no proof of this theory but its not out of realm of possibility considering they already have such a deal with mantis tillers.

I ran 50:1 on my ported 350 and it developed a leak because of a warped case. It tested good when assembled, but the leak developed later. I was out cutting and I heard it fluttering on the way back to idle and knew there was a leak. I tuned it to a light burble and finished the day. I tore it down and it wasn't bad at all. The worst damage was the soft chinese piston had wallowed a wrist pin hole. I swapped pistons, got a new case, and it runs like a rabid beaver. If 50:1 was good enough to keep it alive for a whole day with a massive air leak, it's more than enough when it's all sealed up. It was plenty wet when I tore it down too.

Right about zero last winter I was wearing a helmet and the screen was icing up with sweat.

It's really never too cold to cut wood, but it's usually too hot.

Unless the wrist pin bearing was seizing up from not enough oil…

Nope. It was fine. The hole was just stretched out. Granted, it was turning close to 16k.
