Prices of crude have fallen around 20% since a high peak in October, in part due to geopolitical influences. It was going up and up and up earlier in the year. HHO is down to $2.57 from the guy I buy from. Was $2.7x a couple weeks ago.
Oil prices...up like a rocket and drop like a feather around here. We just got a minimum order of HHO last week, and the price was $1.14 a liter (or $1.14x4.5= $5.13/gallon) here, before the gov't tacks on another 5%. If you ever wonder why I'm scared to touch the thermostat, there's a good reason.
Right you are, called Imperial or UK gallon said some site on the internet. Our gallon is (roughly) 4.5 liters, while yours is 3.78 liters. I guess that makes my HHO worth $4.30/gallon American. Gonna be even less if I convert it to real money.
Crude dropping like a ROCK. Was almost 72 4 weeks ago, now at $55 But Natural gas is up to 4 from 3.30 in same time. Strange.
Latest average prices for home heating fuels in NH. My boiler is propane - There is a reason I happily plunked down money for pellet stoves and laugh every time I get a ton of pellets from the local TSC (and even better because I am not paying what they show per ton of pellets). Pellets compare favorably against oil and propane too. Of course there are areas where people aren't paying these rates - and then ther is me who will end up paying a lot more for propane than what is shown on the chart because of where I live and these prices are based on using at least 1,000 gallons.
I am in shock, the propane company delivered and I only paid $3.60/gal. I haven't paid that low a price since moving into this house in 2013. Not like I upped my usage - they put in 81 gallons. I will not look this gift horse in the mouth!
Yeah a year, we grill a lot, ... oil does my hot water, 100 gallon last May til now. 150 gallons more lasts til May. Back up heat in basement set to 45.
Got a delivery of heating oil today that I ordered yesterday at a locked in price of $2.262. I checked and today it’s $2.70.
Guess you have a better hot water heater than I do. I also use the Therm Guard to keep the FHW pipes from freezing in the garage. Oh, and the pilot light for the boiler goes all the time until March or so (I think last year it was late April).
Ahh, I have a standalone (good thing since I turn off the pilot light to the boiler late spring until late fall). Hot water tank is 10 Y/O, boiler is 30 Y/O. Oh, I misunderstood and thought you said your hot water was propane - but it's oil, so there is no comparison there (oil gives more BTU's than propane so is inherently more efficient).
