We are in the 6"-12" zone, shown in purple below. Temps early monday will be hovering at or just below freezing, so I expect a heavy snow to push.

I think mine is a 10/12.. and its post and beam framed with some massive timbers... not the weight Im concerned about its the fact the 3 foot deep drift is melting and creating a nice ice dam.

I don't know about the rest of you guys and gals, but there is something about a good heavy storm that I look forward to. Wood is ok, food is ok, hunker down and let 'er fly! Bad part is the clean-up, no?

Personally I like a 4"-6" storm. Easy to plow. ;)

When you get into the 10"+ range it gets heavy and slow to move. I like to be able to zip around and get it done quick. Then I can come home to a toasty warm house. :fire:

Winter storm watch just posted here. Nothing significant, but we love snow.

Yep 10 inches of wet snow is slow going in a plow truck. That's why I have a 2" trigger. Plowing 2 to 4 inches 2 or 3 times is way easier on the equipment than 10 inches all at once.

I purchased and installed a warn front mount plow system and a super winch 3000lb winch back in the fall for the mighty grizzly. I've had the pleasure of plowing 4 times this year and love every minute of it. The neighbors woke up a couple times now to plowed driveways, resulting in hugs from the woman.;)

My nearest neighbor was especially happy since he had the flu for 2 weeks.
If the snow is heavy, I'll do a couple passes, but nothing is better than a nice powder!

gotcha, it's more for the heat loss and the ice that forms. I have that on a flat rubberized roof in the back of the house. I have plans in the next few years to take that roof off and put a small 5 pitch to replace it. I was looking for more ceiling height at the same time, so this will kill like 3 birds with the same stone.

My neighbor thankfully helps us out, we share a few hundred yards of driveway, then I go up past him. If he has the grizzly out, he makes a few passes up to my turnabout for us.

I usually get ready to head out at around 3". By the time I get the snow off the truck, the blower on the back and get to my first stop, there's another inch. If it's going to be a big one I run the route then go back and start at the beginning again.

Got the plow on today. Only supposed to get 4" but it's nice to get out and play and the old timer neighbors appreciate me plowing them out even though they'd never ask me to.

That's how my neighbors are. I actually like having older neighbors. They are like me keep to themselves but if you ever needed the slightest thing they would help in a heartbeat. When my well pump went up a bunch of them gave me a hard time for not asking them for help. My 80 some year old neighbor came over and offered to help too. The man gets around great for his age still hunts and fishes cleans his chimney and all. If I can move like him when I hit 60 I'll be happy.

Latest report has the storm going more north, above the mason dixon line. Of course this is subject to change, but my area just got downgraded to 2-4", ending monday morning with all rain.

I just watched the 6:00 news. Our forecast has been downgraded to " a coating of snow changing to sleet, freezing rain then to all rain. I guess I might as well take the snowblower off the truck. :(
