(Official) FWHC Secret Santa-- What Did You Get? Thread

Now that the dust has settled, here is what I got. Full disclosure, I called my wife from work a few weeks ago and she asked why I bought a moisture meter for myself for Christmas. Ahhh! So I knew about it and I am happy to report that next years oak that was delivered this spring is at 20% MC. My old analog meter was not working correctly, so this timing was perfect. My dad has some one year seasoned sugar maple wood that is not burning well, so we will be splitting some splits over there today to see where they are at.

The second box arrived the other day, a heavy box that smelled like pine a few feet away. Again full disclosure, I poked the corner with my pocket knife and saw a lot of fatwood. (still some kid left in me, and pressure from the wife and kids) Southern yellow pine to be exact. I opened the box, there was about 3/4 of a box of the fatwood, a few nice natural wood candle holders, a few small Stihl parts(excellent).

The larger box was a diaper box, so I was pretty sure who sent it, and by the way, congratulations. The box also contained a nice personal note about the history of what the yellow pines were harvested for years ago, and now for the fatwood. An excellent gift all around and much appreciated.

The wood has filled our living room with an incredible pine smell. I will make a wood box to store the wood and enjoy the smell. The candle holders will go on the coffee table to enjoy. Thank you for the gifts!

I haven't taken a picture yet and won't until later today/tonight, but my Secret Santa was very awesome and I really appreciate and will get ongoing use from the nice gift.

32" bar and chain combo.

In case those who don't read my posts where I shamelessly keep mentioning my new stihl (to me). I recently resurected a stihl ms650 from parts. These will be to dress it up!

Great gift! As you can see, from the second picture it is next to a pillow, and it is a good size Hatchet.

This will come in very handy!

 

Wow lots of good stuff in here! I opened mine a little while ago and believe me I am impressed This is a very nice thoughtful beautiful handmade gift thank you so much were going to be working on finding a spot for it in the den/stove room.
