That one does look a little cattywampus. It might be a male / female thing or time of year, they’ve been silent for a month here, I’m used to seen them with spots that look like they have holes in them. There’s a term for that type of camouflage that I can’t think of at the moment and it makes some of my family nauseous. I’ll get it in an edit.
They also have a nickname "Timberdoodle". You will find them in low moist areas as one of their favorite and staple foods are earthworms. They use that impressive beak to probe the moist soil. We have them through here in the fall and see an occasional one here in the summer that must have decided to stick around. They are so well camouflaged that you can almost step on them if they sit still on the forest floor.
