I really have no idea what buZZsaw BRAD is talking about here... APP?!?! All the Locust I score is either stumbled on accidentally or on a rare occasion I spot it on Google Maps, again, at random.

I went back again today to work that trunk section. Ended up rolling four 20" diameter chunks out of there through the brush along with some decent limb wood. Not fun! Got a few smaller Cherry limbs too as a bonus. Next time I go back I'm taking my dolly with me. Those 20" rounds are friggin' dense. On the plus side I've already got quite the pyramid stack going at home from this one score. Pictures to come...

Nah, I'm going to finish the one in Bristol for now. I've got one more trip there and I'm done. The Middletown one is a good-sized score but I'm in no hurry for more Locust. I'm hoping to drive by there sometime and see a guy with a Dodge winching behemoth logs onto a trailer though ;)

Hahaha. I really have enough other things I should be doing but you never know when that itch needs to be scratched.

IMG_0014.JPG I'm done at this spot for the foreseeable future. The plan is to leave these rounds stacked behind my shed for a while, until the bark easily comes off. A year, maybe two or more. Then split and stack. I have enough Locust in my stacks as is, so even if this stuff sits for 5 years before I burn it I'm not losing anything. It's been a fun score.

Positive. I cut it all from the same tree that was on the ground. The area it was in was about a quarter acre Locust grove with some Catalpa, Red Maple and Black Cherry mixed in. As thick as Locust bark is, this stuff seemed especially thick. But it is Locust though, it had the right leaves, the right wood, the right smell, the right heart wood punk I seem to always find in BL, and it was dense as it should be.

Just finished up splitting and stacking the last of this October Locust. Looks to be closing in fast on a cord or so. All of this came from trees that blew down during tropical storm Isaias last August. I have more dead without bark stacked elsewhere but the plan with this stack is to use it during 2023-2024. Edit: I just noticed the red/green pallets. I wonder if brenndatomu would approve? 13AB8214-C2F5-49DB-BEE9-F1264DF46D9D.jpeg B1B4662B-110D-4330-9FA2-5A1E68D4A783.jpeg
