We were actually debating on what it actually was.... I knew it was a red oak... ... My splitter should be fine for the job... if not will grab the neighbors bobcat with his upside down splitter for the big chunks....but I'm guessing there will be some noodles in my future...
Here's the base of the tree with his JD steer loader.... It took the guys side of his metal garage, the neighbors corner of the house & the wooden fence.... plus it impaled a chunk of tree on a metal post, that they couldn't get removed...
Yes, red oak but I think perhaps more specifically it could be pin oak, which is really a red. So you can call it either one and be okay.
