I insulated all the pipes in the basement so I do not have to run the boiler. The P61 keeps everything down there cozy.
The best pipe insulation is the fiberglass encased in white wrap available at the heating and plumbing supply houses.

I do not worry about the pipes in my basement - only those in the garage since it will get down in the 20's.
