The owner of a farm where I hunt has had problems with predators raiding her chicken coop. She requested I dispatch of any predators I could while deer hunting on her land. I normally wouldn't do that as I have no need for coyotes or foxes, but she relies on her chickens so I keep an eye out. This morning I was hunting in a stand about 100 yards from her yard. One less predator to bother her chicks. And she was happy to take the pelt.
I have a few fox running around the woods. Was watching one go after a squirrel the other night. No chickens around, so I let them be.
The lady will need to predator proof her chicken coop because it will be a never-ending battle if she doesn't. The foxes are just trying to survive.
I was raised on a small farm with animals and I still have chickens at my house. It's much easier to predator proof your pen than it is trying to keep up with hungry predators just doing what they do.
