    Yes. My first time to use one was around 1953 or 54, I think. The dairy farmers decided to go on strike and not send milk, but the cows still had their needs. So we started separating the cream and taking it to the Borden dairy creamery. Before it was over we were separating for several neighbors so rigged it to run with a small electric motor rather than the arm of Dennis.

    When I was little there was a catholic family across the street ( I think there were ten or so kids ) and one of them was on the porch either making ice cream or butter. I remember they had one or two goats.
    Pretty sure the girl was plunging and not hand cranking.
    One of these is what I remember:

    This was a very rural farming area when I was 6 or 7. Lots of dairy farms and hay and corn fields.

    This is my town Dennis, where did you find these? That carpet store I can remember, it closed several years ago now. The power company is still going, originally Bangor gas and light then Bangor hydroelectric. Several buyouts later it’s now Canadian owned versant.
