Yup, you right on the nose!! I saw Rush, Lynyrd Syknyrd, Jethro tull, Kansas and a few others at those places. How about old Enrico's restaraunt right as you entered the crest form the toll bridge. Yup, That area has been destoyed with all the rubber stamp town houses.

First it was Enrico's, then it became Enrico's Flamenco Disco. I can still hear Barry Manilow singing, "Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl"....well, at least the Crest Tavern still rocks. Best wings I've had in a long, long time.

My grandpappy bought the place in 1965. He and my grandmother have long since passed on and they left the house to our family. It is a family heirloom, a place so full of memories that parting with it would be unthinkable. the original predicted track of Sandy had it going up the mouth of Delaware Bay; being that the strongest winds are on the north side of a hurricane, that would have spelled doom for the old girl. Instead, Sandy came ashore just north of Atlantic City and destroyed the coastline north of there. Given that barrier islands were forcibly evacuated, we had no way of knowing if the house made it. A day or so after the storm, NASA started posting footage of satellite flyovers. I was able to zoom in on the house and there wasn't even a roof shingle missing. Given the enormous beach that has built up in the Wildwoods, it acted as a buffer against the storm. We went down after the evacuation was lifted and partied like there was no tomorrow.

Next time, if it should/will happen give me a call, PM me…. I'm one of the "stay behind" Engineers on the USCG base here in CM… I also have access to the old electronics station on the crest, "next to diamond beach" I'm active duty USCG still.
    I'll give you an update.

Here on eastern LI firewood brings a premium and anything left on the roadside is gone quickly. But on western LI nearer the city tree services sometimes offer free logs rather than pay disposal fees. I finally bought a trailer so I can pick up enough for the 4 hour round trip to be worthwhile

I calledy log supplier yesterday to get on the list. She asked how much would I like this time . I said half or a little more. I get buried under full loads and since he'll deliver short loads for the same low low price I'll take it that way. She asked how long can I deal with. I said up to 20'. And she asked if I wanted any species in particular. I put in a request for a few pieces of cherry as I didn't get any last year. Now I wait. It usually runs a month or do this time of year.
