Got kinda' gung ho about acquiring saws and new equipment a few years back. I remember an old timer on here saying that he gets by with a couple of Stihl saws...I believe a Farm Boss. After splitting and processing several cords, my opinion on my personal situation is a 70 cc saw, a truck, a splitter, and various wedges, rope, a couple of mauls and personal safety gear is all I really need. A backup saw and a 192 or 200t are great additions. Anything beyond that for me is unnecessary for a hobby woodburner. A sawbuck is a must have but those are cheap and easy to build.

There is no cure for CAD. You just live each day fighting the urge and hope that a good deal doesn't fall in your lap. But eventually we all fall off that wagon.
I agree. If I had more time and more space, I am limited by the speed of my splitter and fatigue. I can cut a round to length ok with a stock 70 cc saw pretty quick if the chain stays sharp. A hot rod would speed things up to the point that my energy level would be the limiting factor. A luxury to me would be a huge arsenal of sharp chains. Worth as much as horsepower.
Good grief. Hope he doesn't get those things biting at his legs causing him to wreck. I wonder what that many together weigh? I used to have a scooter way back, and I picked up a bigger woman once and gave her a ride home. The rear suspension was bottomed out the whole way home.
That's fowl. I too once had a scooter. I had a red Honda spree. It had a wire basket on back that would hold a case of beer. I kept the large women off of it. Good times.
Was that old timer perhaps me? Shoot, I got along for many years with only one saw but a couple years ago bought a really small one at my wife's request. Really like that little thing for limbing a tree or cutting small ones.
My 029 super has been my only saw and was the primary saw for years since new in like 01. That's a 57cc saw, and it works well, even with only a 16" b&c. Really big stuff I called my buddy over with his 046 mag.
I have an MS261, 361 and 461. They serve me excellently. I lust after the MS201TCM , 241 and 661. Do I need them, hell no. Do I want them, hell yes. (sorry about the PG13 language)
Yes...sorry for old timer comment. I just meant to say that someone who's been doing this for longer than most. I think a second saw is nice if you get the first saw pinched.
I had a 300lb'er on the back of my FJ1200 once. Ruined any resemblance of sporty-ness. The bike handled like a lake freighter. Never again. Had a skinny Japanese chick in one of my college classes, maybe 90lbs soaking wet, she loved riding and had all her own gear. She was actually a lot of fun to ride with. Couple notches on the rear spring and a click or two of rebound damping and the bike handled great. Our riding styles just clicked. Never any romantic involvment, just many sets of tires.
Absolutely, especially as I cut on other people's land I quickly found it imperative. Coincidentally, this thinking was the onset of CAD. Mine is in check, while in my head I am at a 2 saw plan I still have 4. When they sit too long, they go to a new home.
Absolutely no offense taken my friend. I've had that happen to me exactly one time! Neighbor wasn't home but I borrowed his saw anyway. Took only seconds to get the saw loose. It was my own fault that it happened and hope it never happens again.
