Since i cut down those Norway Maples, it hasnt moved much..but i think some cows pooped on it. As those 20$ IBC cages are no longer available i had to come up with a different idea. Plastic Palletts each 8$, the silage foil came for free as did the fuel-oil-tank in the back. The trustworthy Oxehead took no prisioners. And a start has been made. I had to call it a day before noon so i only got a little splitting and stacking done. But soon it will be a big ole pile, sitting in the wind and sun.
The silage foil will block the weeds. How about the oil tank? Do you have a plan for that? Good job getting stuff done in the heat.
I hope so , gotta ask my neighbours when its on fire. Thanks, working on a farm gives you alot of options and as long as the farmer doesnt needs it - i can use it. Midwinter and shack ill just use it to pile the wood up against it. It should hold 2cords of wood in shape. ("The silage foil will block the weeds." Thats right!)
Worry not, dried cow dung burns well without the odor. Well, there is some but not real strong. As long as the smoke goes out of the house all is well.
I think the more important question is how many BTUs cow poop has, and is German cow poop higher or lower than the BTU output of American cow poop? Yes, I'm aware that poop is actually burned as a fuel in some areas of the world.
Good call buddy! So if we feed them just hay and clover, will it make a difference compared to corn silage. So many questions... but i reckon high BTUs anyhow I recall books about those settler heading west, via the greatplains, they burned that stuff alot. Haha i better beware, the missus gonnae raise hell otherwise. *More pics weekend inbound!
Inbetween earing some money i did some splitting. Saturday morning: Today: Its like fighting those darn windmills.
Still plenty of people tilting at windmills. A windfarm project here got squashed because they're "not aesthetic"
Ok, large metal cylinder referred to as a fuel tank. That’s really just a wood kiln waiting to be discovered.
I hear ye! We got them all over the place, planning is sometimes good and sometimes real bad. But aesthetics wasnt a reason yet why projects got stopped as far as i know. Alot of people think its an eyesore though but theres been issue with constant noise and with birdmigration (big ole shredder). Old St.Peter makes some wind and some smart... making some bucks, its a strange world. = = Hmmm, could be an future project. Thanks for pointing out.
Ya got me thinking.. There's a windfarm not terribly far from here, and whenever I've seen them from the interstate, they certainly aren't moving fast. Maybe I can find a farmer/landowner that'll allow some limited access. I am curious as to the noise level complaints, and maybe I'll hear of the many piles of birds that got caught up in the cuisanart. I'm a bit doubtful of such claims.
My intention wasnt to judge right or wrong just wanted to state that theres some issues regarding windmills. Some people hear the weeds grow, im half deaf so i cant walk in their shoes Anyhow back to topic: Before cutting weeds and brush along the wire, i made a little progress. All those Blackberrys ...
Nobody wants one in their own back yard, especially the big ones whose wing tips are traveling between 120 and 180 MPH . The repeating shadow flicker when the sun is at just the right angle relative to where you are can make one ill. The towns of Falmouth and Fairhaven in Massachusetts have both fought legal issues from siting them too close to homes. Falmouth operation was shut down, the Fairhaven wind turbines had to be programmed to shut down at certain times of day to accommodate homeowners' health issues. It must have been cheaper than buying up a bunch of houses. There's one less than a mile from my house. I can see it clearly thru the trees in the Winter when the trees are un-leafed. It's on a rather short stubby tower so no one is impacted by it. Besides it has turned out to be junk as it spends more time sitting there broken than it does generating electricity. The state/university must own it as I can't see a business sustaining the losses from down time being pizzed away in the wind so to speak. More birds fly into radio and cel towers than turbines and even more are killed by house windows. Cape Wind was originally condemned by several wealthy Cape Cod homeowners who didn't want their pristine views of Nantucket sound destroyed. The needs of the many ...
I have to laugh when people say they don't like the looks of windmills. I'd rather see them than look at all the ugly power lines; especially the high voltage lines. But that's just me. Seems we all have opinions.
My wife said she didn't want an ugly cell tower on our property. I said they will go next door an build it and we won't get any monthly rent checks. She likes how it looks out in our field.
