How is it that we always think cats are stuck in trees? Only because we think they've been up there too long...or maybe we think they aren't safe??? Cats are a "bit" independent and end up doing whatever it is they think they want to do. I can tell you it sure wouldn't have been me going up there for that reason! You can tell the cat was gracious by it's reaction...10' higher! It'll be alright.
Here's what could happen if you "help" it! Funny!

Reminds me of the little tale about 2 brothers. The older one had to go away and asked his brother to please keep an eye on things and be sure to feed his cat. He loved that cat and wanted to be sure it was taken care of.

About a week later he called home and the first thing he asked was, "How's the cat?" His brother said, "The cat is dead." This sent him into a frenzy. "What? The cat is dead? What's the matter with you anyway? His brother apologized and said he was really sorry but was interrupted. "You know, you could have been a little bit more tactful about it all. You know what that cat meant to me. Geeze, when I asked about the cat, you could have said, 'The cat is on the roof.' Then the next time I called you could have said something like, 'The cat fell off the roof.' Then the next time you could have told me the cat was dead.

Well, it is over now but please remember this. As time went on, the man got called away again and had to be gone another week. A few days later he called and when his brother answered, he said he'd be gone for a few more days. "And by the way, how is mother? His brother then said, "Well, Mother's on the roof..."

I have two cats like that, there's at least one mouse or mole a day on the porch, sometimes a bird, one day there was a live snake in my living room. I saw it on the floor but I thought it was a toy my wife bought for the cats, until it started slithering, I caught it and put it outside, the cat must have been playing with it and got bored.

We have a cat that is also a darn fine assassin. One day the cat brought my wife a live mouse well this freaked my wife out and she somehow was able to keep it confined to the closet until I came home from work. Long story short the cat sat there and watched me catch this mouse that was running around in the closet. I finally caught it by putting a clear bowl over it and sliding some cardboard under it. My wife made me let it go outside but after that the cat only leaves dead ones outside the basement door. I guess that cat had to know if I was a good hunter.

That and now the cat won't catch any mice unless it has a bowl and piece of cardboard!! :D

Super Huge Shout Out to Julie and Bryan Weaver of Climb High Tree Service of Lebanon, PA!!!! You can bet they will be our first call for any arborist work in the future. They came out to deal with the cat in the tree at about 7:30 P.M. after a very long day of work work. Bryan used his bean bag and Zing-It line to push the cat down out of the tree. He didn't even need to climb to get it down. Cat ran off and seemed no worse for wear. Our cat gave him a little chase when he got down, just to make double sure he doesn't invade our cat's territory ever again. All is well that ends well.

My grandfather had a farm cat, not your typical house cat, that used to like to hunt partridge. She would come home with one every week or two.

I have never seen or heard of a cat skeleton being found in a tree. It will get down on it's own.

The last cat we had used to catch rabbits. The one before that, squirrels. And, of course, mice. When I was young, the cat used to leave a dead mouse at the edge of my mother's side of the bed quite often. Mom would look before she stepped...

My wife's parents lived in the apartment above my office for the last 9 years of their retirement and always had cats. One of them made a habit of coming down to visit and often brought 'presents' for us. That's all well and good, but not necessarily in a doctor's office.

One day I was at the waiting room window taking to a drug rep and she looked over my shoulder and said,

"Oh, you have a beautiful cat back there."

    Then,

"Oh! It has something in its mouth!"

    Then,

    "OH!! It's moving!"

I turned around and 'Little Sue,' the Cat had a live chipmunk in its mouth. I said, "Get that out of here Little Sue!" And she promptly dropped it and it ran straight into a treatment room where a patient was waiting for me.

I shooed it out of the room with a broom while the patient, an elderly gentleman, watched with mirth, and it ran across the hall into the restroom. I grabbed Little Sue by the scruff of her neck and tossed her in the rest room after the chipmunk and sternly told her, "Finish your business!"

After a brief moment of commotion things got quiet and I opened the door.

Little Sue emerged triumphant and took her treasure out the back door.

She was a truly great, sweet, loving and gentle cat. My in laws passed away several years ago and we inherited her. She lived with us another four years and just passed away this winter.
