All these big saws suggested here ! Why carry around a tank ? Get more work done in a day with a good 50cc saw and smaller diameter wood. Big wood + big saw= back hurtin. Trust me :)
I just use 50cc... Now a new Husky 545. Come to my property and tell me it doesnt cut fast enough ! :). Its all about getting the right size trees to cut. Just takes a little more homework.
BTW.... Get rid of the Stihl too ! Lol :) image.jpg

There is a lot of truth to this statement. I would have been perfectly fine with just my 550xp. But I had the money and wanted a larger saw. And the key word is "wanted". My 550xp would have tacked any tree I've come across, it just would have taken a little bit longer. It's easy to want to "keep up with the Jones" on sites like this, where it seems like everybody has several pro-saws. But a lot of people get by just fine with a Stihl 290 Farm Boss, and the OP is already ahead of them with that 261.

I totally agree with most of us could get by with one saw but I would say if I was going to the one saw plan it would be a pro 60cc saw. For the added pound that you pick up you get a lot more power and the capability to run a larger bar/skip tooth chain should you need it.

There should only be about 1/2 to 3/4 hp difference. The weight is the same within an ounce or two as the 372 has a hd air filter and taller plastic air filter cover. I have one of each, they are the exact same weight. Not sure where you are getting a pound difference at.

As far as modded saws go, modded saws are louder. Some much more than others but the exhaust is opened up significantly (depending on model) and makes things louder. Definitely need ear protection with a modded saw. So that might not be what you want if you are looking for quiet.

I agree, I do think a 60cc saw is better if you only plan on having 1 saw. But it's not necessary.

Did someone mention that the Dolmar 7900 is better in every way than any of those orange saws being suggested? No? :p

I agree for years I cut all 4-8 cords a year with a Husqvarna 450 and I got along just fine. It might have been a middle of the road saw but it never let me down. 3-4 years later the piston still looked like new and it fired on the second pull every time.

I like the 60 cc's for an all around saw
The 261 for liming & as a back up .
I've used my little back up a few times, pinched saw way out in the woods, big time saver.
The Husqy 555, 562xp & ms562 are on the top of my list for a new dream saw :) Weight is an issue too.

I was taking my specs from the Husqvarna website.

They have a 365 with X-Torq listed at 14.11 powerhead weight. They have a 372 XP listed at 13.4 lb.

Well anyway nothing critical. When the time comes, I will be buying the first good used saw that comes along and I will do my homework on it.

The 13.4 lb wt for the 372 was for the old style 372 and the site never got updated. Husqvarna info must not ever get checked as far as specs go.

The new ones aren't a lb heavier. Same, bottom end same plastics and cover. Cylinder and piston are different along with carb.

Side by side 365 vs 372 both are within ounces of each other new or old.

Wrap handle and extra dogs will add a few ounces.

Take mfg specs with a grain of salt. Not only are they trying to sell you something, they get a little lazy at times with the updates.

Weighing saw's and posting pics was the trendy thing to do a few months back, anybody have pics/weights for the models in question?

372 half wrap is 14 lbs give or take an ounce.

The old 372 365 etc weighed more then what was stated above in the 13. Mike is right on with it being in 14lb range PHO. I am thinking 14.4lb for the Old ones.
