Is that the bubble insulation? I did a lot of research on that if that's it.

I think so. The insulation was done by the geothermal company when they tied the duct into the geo system.

Progress is getting off the ground, the wheel is in motion. Should be done in no time at all. Mine is awaiting the spring cleaning which I seem not to find any time to do it. Is that a hot water tap in in the other furnace? You will lose that option:(
edit; noticed you have a geo-thermal unit and not a regular furnace so hot water lines are not to be

Those pipes going into the geo unit are for the ground loop. Its a forced air geo unit.

Took me awhile to get threw all 25 pages but was very informative. I will be ordering the vent pipe this week, and am getting
the Selkirk DT-M for sure. Will cost me $ 560.00 for the up & out kit plus the pipe lengths needed. Approx $ 750.00 ????????
I expect to start the install in a few weeks and am sure it will take awhile, but will be well worth the effort and expense.
I will take pics and show all how it goes. I am sorry I didn't take a pic of getting this thing into my basement. It was passed threw
a window on plywood and a couple of 8 ft 2x6 and lowered to the floor with a chain block. My son said I was getting crazier in
my old age by the day. When it was on the floor he just said not so dumb after all, time for a beer or 2 or 3.
Will keep all informed Old Fart

Hey guys! I am back from a summer of cooking on the new pellet grill and maintaining my pool. I have to get back into the swing of things before the cold creeps up on me.

So I left the furnace unplugged and stripped down for the summer. I have to change my exterior venting to avoid soot. I will post pics when I do that. But I want to clean the furnace, I burned 3 tons last winter so I am sure it's dirty. How deep do I go?

It's not how deep you clean, it's how you use your tools.

Couldn't resist. I usually go whole hog once a season and pull the combustion blower, exhaust manifold, etc. Your furnace may be a bit more user friendly for that task than mine is. If you haven't pulled the combustion blower, I'd at least do that. You might find you could go a couple seasons without having to tear into it too far.

    Haha that's great!

I just went back and realized I asked this before I went cooking and swimming. I know you guys were saying something about cleaning behind the firebox wall?? Or something of that nature??

I run a brush up the back wall and give it a few seats with a rubber mallet. I do that once a month during the heating season. I only pull the combustion blower at the start of the season.

I give it a quick clean and dump the ash pan every two weeks, a more thorough cleaning once a month and hit it with the leaf blower every two months during the heating season. If I get an unusually warm day, I'll sweep the venting with the lint eater, but I typically only clean the venting at the start of the season.

I posted a how to on cleaning and taking off panels , etc on another thread so I won't repost that here. But since it was my install thread, I'll just post my pics here on the vent outside that I changed around. You can see in the pics the original low hood blew soot all over the house. I gotta power wash that next spring.
