I drilled several holes (a dozen) in the circle I outlined. Using a masonry nit it was no problem (hammer drill). Then I just used a big chisel and broke the circle out. Easy Peasy. :)

Yep, I stole the idea from Dexter. Here are the pics of how I did it.

That's exactly what I'm doing today but my hole is gonna be 71/2 inches to accommodate the Selkirk DTM venting. I'm also placing it on the top cement row just like the picture above.

Using Selkirk is the way to go!! I love my Selkirk DT in the upstairs Enerzone. :) Great venting, one hole installation, and you preheat the incoming air (better efficiency) Win-Win-Win.. :dex:

I see there is a Direct Temp pellet and a Direct Temp Multi fuel. Which one do I want and is this used on the inside only? Or do I need to run this up the side of the house once I get outside.

Does this take the place of an OAK?

Where are you guys buying this stuff the cheapest from ?

If you plan on burning any other biomass besides pellets? Get multi fuel.

The OAK and vent is all in one with the DT.

Member Don2222 sells it and gave me a pretty good price. And no, it does not need to go all the way up the side of the house. Just needs to follow the manual guidelines for Clearance to combustible.

I need some pics of square dampers, still trying to decide if I am gonna use as ad on or standalone.
I have 2 rooms over the garage that the vents run through a soffit that was covered with sheetrock. If I run new ductwork, I would have to either run it external or break the sheetrock and then replace it. The run is from the basement to the garage which is a room over.

According to the Manual, I would have to remove the ductwork above the AC coils and put a damper in. I wonder if I would have to disassemble EVERYTHING to get that to move.........need advice on this before I tackle.

Is the garage heated? You might get away of tripling the insulation on the exterior ductwork through the garage and into the bedroom and do without the existing furnace piping, thinking out loud. How many runs of hot air registers exist on the furnace? If it was me, try the existing system and if it doesn't pan out, then go alone. I might be in the same boat as you and will soon find out. You could just put a piece of plywood or sheet metal into the furnace filter for now and see if it works to your desire and if it does buy a square backdraft damper.

    Garage is not heated.

There are 8, two of which are bathrooms and one is an entranceway. 5 are important because 3 go to the bedrooms and 2 to the living/kitchen. It's an open floor plan.

Would blocking the filter which is on the cold return do the same as a damper on the hot supply side?

It would help by blocking the cold air (filter area), but there is to many leaks from the hot air plenum to the intake. You would lose a substantial amount of pressure. You need a good positive block above the hot air plenum.

You don't have many registers so going through your existing furnace ducts should do the trick with the Fahrenheit. Good luck with the installation and don't hesitate to ask questions or advice. We are one big drunken pellet pigs gathering at a firepit having fun.

A little tricky to find them. When I'll get time I will post a link. Try looking at Grainger.com

Quick question for the Fahrenheit owners, the take-off from the top of the Fahrenheit furnace where the 10 inch hole is, what are you using to attach the 10 inch duct to it????

They make a starter section with tabs, but I just crimped mine, put in the hole and put a bead of silicone around to seal it completely
